Fantabulous Cricut: Challenge Me Monday #91 - Trimming with a Tag

It's almost Christmas..!!  Are you just as excited as me...?!  Our family has been busy with our favorite holiday outings and traditions -- and also nursing my little guy through a four-day fever -- but I did have time to make a few tags for this week's Trimming with a Tag challenge at Fantabulous Cricut.

I made these Baby Jesus gift tags to decorate the wrapping for my son's Sunday School teachers' gifts.  It's hard to find gift wrap and trimmings that relate the holiday back to Christ, so I enjoyed making my own packaging to acknowledge God's Perfect Gift.  (Jesus, that is -- not Bath & Body Works.)

Project Details:

• Paper - cardstock by Recollections; green patterned paper by Me & My Big Ideas
• Cricut Cuts - baby Jesus and star from Winter Folic, page 71; tag from Winter Frolic, page 70
• Embossing - manger with The Paper Studio's Wood Grain; swaddling clothes with Cuttlebug's Distressed Stripes
• Other - inking with yellow and light green Colorbox ink pads; doodling with white Gelly Roll pen; baby Jesus and star on pop dots

I'm totally loving how they turned out -- and now wishing that I'd made tags for all the gifts under the tree.  Oh well, maybe next year. :)  Yes, along with 50+ handmade Christmas cards.  (I have very high hopes for 2012, eh?)

Sweet Strawberry Card

My mom (also a newbie to the Cricut) is visiting this week, and we've planned lots of crafting and shopping.  In fact, my entire front room is filled with our cardmaking and scrapbooking goodies.  It's CRAZY -- and crazy-tempting to my toddler -- but I'm loving it.

She was too tired from the trip to make anything tonight, but I cranked out the following project:

The patterned papers are from my mom's stash, as is use of the Martha Stewart punch.  Isn't it great to share...well, uh, get to use...new tools?  I really need a few punches.  And this awesome stack of paper.  I'm making a list for our Hobby Lobby/Michaels/JoAnn expedition tomorrow.

Purple Butterfly Mothers Day Card

I had to try out my newest cartridge -- Cricut Lite Lovely Floral -- last night, and the result is a rich-colored Mothers Day Card.

Yep, everything on this card is from Lovely Floral -- the doily, the butterfly, and the font.

I took Mary of CardzTV's challenge and made a Mothers Day card with the colors purple, green, blue, and white.  When I saw this paper pack, I knew it was perfect for her challenge.  Can you believe this pack is from the Dollar Spot at Target?!

My mom actually reads my blog, so I was apprehensive about letting her see a card that she might receive -- but she assured me seeing the card in person is different than seeing a photo of it.  Then again, I'm sure I'll make several Mothers Day cards, so she'll have the surprise of which card is hers.  Of course, she gets whichever card turns out the best, because she is that special!
